Julia Mariette
Postdoctoral Researcher
Postdoctoral Researcher in Neuroethology
I am a biologist specializing in neuroethology and chemical communication in insects. After studying cellular biology and physiology, I completed a Master’s degree in Behaviour at Université Paris Nord, followed by a PhD focused on the neural basis of sexual communication in males honey bees of four Apis species. I studied
During my doctoral work, I investigated the function of several olfactory receptors involved in sexual communication in four species of honey bees within the Apis genus, expressed heterologously in Drosophila melanogaster.
I am currently a postdoctoral researcher studying the neural circuits underlying pheromone processing in the honeybee. My work combines transgenesis (CRISPR-Cas9), calcium imaging, electrophysiology, behavioural assays (olfactory conditioning, olfactometry), and practical beekeeping.
My long-term goal is to understand the mechanisms underlying chemical communication across the animal kingdom.

I'm currently working at the EGCE (Evolution, Genomes, Behaviour and Ecology) at the IDEEV institut (CNRS Gif-sur-Yvette, France). I am looking for a postdoctoral position or a permanent position on insects neural basis of sensory behaviour.
